Dolcetta by Dolce Vita

I mentioned in a previous post that I was ordering cutout boots from Urban Outfitters and they finally arrived last Thursday! Since I fulfilled the minimum of $50 on my purchase, I got free economy shipping.  The week after I ordered they had a 25% off all shoes sale, and free shipping on all orders with Urban On.  I'm slightly disappointed that I could've saved around $20, but it was too late to do anything.
These are the Dolcetta by Dolce Vita Cutout Boot. I've been wanting a pair of cutout boots for awhile now, and I have an e-gift card to this website so I got them!  They aren't the best quality to be honest.  They're made with "vegan leather" and have a nice block heel. I can see some threads sticking out, and it's kind of wrinkly.  They are however super comfortable to walk in, with only a 2" heel.  I think these will be great for Spring/ Summer.  The regular price for these boots is $69 but they've been on sale at $44 for quite some time.  They're sometimes cheaper in store too.
So since those boots were $44 and I had to have a minimum of $50 to qualify for free shipping, I ordered this dainty little arrow ring.  Honestly it's such a cute and elegant ring, I can't wait to wear it with everything!  It's a nice rose gold colour, really light and came in a great little Urban Outfitters cloth bag.  I got it for $8.

When have you made a purchase only to have it go on sale afterwards?  Leave a comment!

DIY Ombre Hair with L'Oreal Feria Wild Ombre Kit

Since it's spring I decided to change my hair up a bit for the season by dying my hair.  I didn't want to just dye it because I would probably let my roots grow out in a really awkward way.  I decided to dye my hair with the L'Oreal Feria Wild Ombre kit after watching various tutorials on Youtube and reading reviews.
I got the 050 shade since it is for dark brown to soft black hair, and my hair is naturally black.  The process was pretty simple; you mix the packets inside and brush into the hair focusing the product on the bottom of the hair.  It's basically a bleach so my hair is pretty dry right now.

Here's the result.. ignore the posters and my funky pants.  It's a bit brassier than I would like but I'm thinking once it fades a bit or maybe after a couple washes the true colours will show better.  It's not bad for an at home ombre style instead of spending hundreds of dollars at the salon!

Spring Wishlist: Pastels

pastel
I'm so excited for spring! Look at all the pretty colours! I've been wearing mostly black and blues for the past couple weeks and I'm so ready to spice things up with the sunnier weather coming in. Plus I'm going to try to ombre my hair at home tomorrow with the L'Oreal Feria ombre kit.  I'll probably post some pictures up soon with my results!

I'm going to link where these items are from(left to right) and why I think they're perfect for springtime.

1. I think the Blue Bandeau Lace Prom Dress is perfect for spring because it's such a nice blue and seems so cute to frolic around in! I know it says it's a prom dress but I think it could be worn down very easily with a denim coat or a cardigan and some boots! And it's on sale right now for only £10
2. This super cute spaghetti strap tank is by She Inside and I love it for its subtle bird print and how flowy the top is.  The spaghetti straps make it perfect for spring making it a light top.  I really like the apricot colour too.
3. The Reef flounce crop top by Delias is such a POP off colour making it such a staple for the spring! It could be worn with high waisted shorts, jeans, or skirts, you name it. It would also be nice worn under a sheer shirt or a cutout top.
4. Shoes shoes shoes! I chose these wonderful gold plated sandals from Shoemint to kind of match all the other bright colours we may be sporting!  These sandals are so sleek and it is so much better than just wearing black shoes.
5. Next is the pale blue skirt by Nastygal; it's great to wear with crop tops and sweaters, maybe even thigh highs during the colder days.  The pleated effect and zipper on the back of this skirt is what makes it stand out the most to me. This would go great with the Reef crop top I mentioned before; I think the colours would compliment eachother nicely.
6. My favourite item on this list is definitely the lace slip dress.  I've been wanting a dress like this forever, a simple and boho white dress that's very simple and very feminine.  Definitely great for those lazy days where I still wanna feel cute!
7. Last but not least: Overalls!  Overalls are another staple for the spring and can be worn with a simple t shirt and tights.  Could definitely go crazy with pinafore dresses as well!  A transition piece if this were worn with a sweater or hoodie.

That's what's on my spring wishlist, but what's on yours?

This is completely irrelevant but here is my rant;

I ordered a pair of cutout boots from Urban Outfitters last week and what do you know this week they have a 25% off sale for all their shoes! I should have waited...super annoyed that I can't get a refund or anything but it is what it is.

Mini Haul

I did a little bit of thrifting and shopping yesterday! It's almost spring and I'm really excited for sunnier weather.  The thing is when it's summer I wish for winter, and when it's winter I wish for summer; I'm never really content with what I have. Anyway let me show you what I got!!
These really cute high waisted shorts were only $3.99 at Value Village! I admit they may be a size or two too big but if I roll up the hem and wear a belt it's do-able.

The next item I got is a lace tank top by Hollister, I also got this from Value Village for $5.99.  What caught my eye is the cute lace details at the bottom! How cute is that?  Next, I bought a pair of high waisted jeans and a simple black crop top.  I did attempt to take pictures of those but unfortunately those turned out terrible so here are some socks I got!!

These were only a dollar a pair at Ardene.  There are pugs! on! my! socks!

What clothing items are you most excited to sport in the springtime?

Freeman Pomegranate Peel Off Mask Review

Today I'm going to be doing a review on the Freeman Revealing Pomegranate Peel Off Mask.  That was a mouthful!  I got this from my local London Drug's last week since I heard many good things about Freeman's masks. It usually retails for $4.99 at my store but was on sale for $2.50 that day.  However it is only $3.99 on Freemanbeauty.com

The pomegranate mask is part of the Feeling Beautiful skin care line by Freeman.  It says that it is an 8- antioxidant blend of Acai, blueberry, cranberry, goji, mango, mangosteen, noni, and pomegranate guard against free radicals and environmental stress. Antioxidants are great at protecting the skin from the sun, and also provide nutrients to help cell and tissue growth.  Basically this means it's a natural and great way to keep your skin feeling great.

Enough of the boring stuff, I'll tell you how I liked the mask.  When I first opened the packaging for this, the smell was not bad, it smelled like the cleaners they use at public washrooms.  This isn't to say it's necessarily a bad smell, but it's not the best.  The mask is a very sticky consistency, much like glue.  When I set the bottle down to apply the mask, the product oozed out of the bottle.
Now I don't know if I was imagining it but the first time I used this mask it seemed very suffocating and my face turned red however when I peeled the mask off it seemed fine.  The mask is very fun to peel off, but I didn't see any dirt stick to it unlike when I use my pore strips.  My skin pretty much looks the same but feels softer.
I think this an okay product for the price, but there are definitely better masks out there in the same price range.

Spring Trends: Cutout Boots

Untitled #277

Cutout Boots by maaelin
Cutout boots are a very new and popular trend in street style and bloggers; from the very well known Jeffrey Campbell to Steve Madden, all the big companies are selling them, each with their own unique twist to the look!  I've been eyeing cutout boots for awhile now, simply because I love how effortless they show off skin and that I won't have to worry about my feet suffocating due to the warmer weather.  Cutout ankle boots are such a simple way to add a bit of an edge to an outfit.  Here I have a few of my favourite cutout boots.  I just ordered a pair of cutout booties from Urban Outfitters today!

Introduction!

For a while now I've been contemplating whether to start a blog or not, what it would be about and if I would even be committed enough to start one.  I really like the idea of documenting my thoughts and ideas about fashion, trends, and everything in between!  At 1:30 AM on a Saturday night would be a perfect time to do such a thing!  Anyway..My name is Maelin and I'm really interested in fashion and makeup.  However on a side note I've been wanting to start an etsy selling some knitted items. Stay tuned!
